We are home! And I must say, even though the cruise was absolutely FANTASTIC, it is good to be back home. It sure was nice to just kick back and relax, enjoy some warm weather (in the low 80's) with a breeze, see some wonderful sights, like the Hemmingway House in Key West and a Quilt Show (what great timing!!!!) in Nassau. We also enjoyed getting to know each other better.
Roger says that retirement is not for us, and I have to agree....we ate, and sat around, and ate again, ordered room service while laying back watching tv in mid afternoon. His exact words were, "We are getting so fat and lazy, we're not worth killing." That really sounds odd, especially now that I've written it, but I know what he means! We don't know how to behave when we don't have routine! He gained 3 pounds, and me...well, I am not getting close to the scales!
We had 29 people in our group! And as far as I have heard, everyone really enjoyed their trip. It was the first cruise for most of them, and even though the seas were pretty rough and the wind was up, the ship stayed very steady.
Everyone stayed in the same hotel the night before the cruise and was given a goody bag, compliments of QQ, and a QQ T shirt. The next morning, we were all shuttled over to the port, where we were ushered through in a very timely manner, and we were off!!!! to the buffet bars!! We were all on the ship by 2 or so, but we didn't leave port til 4. I kind of lose track of all the hour by hour details after that, plus all of us went our own way, usually meeting up with each other at the smoking tables. It was a very enjoyable time of meeting, greeting and relaxing. We wound down with the entire group getting together at a cocktail party, compliments of the Travel Center of Lexington, on the last night of the cruise, with door prizes being given to everyone, and a special prize to the 2 people who were voted as having the best time on the cruise...Wavel and Dolores!!! Congratulations!
OH...I did get to do the "Stupid Shuffle" I mean "Cupid Shuffle" 3 times!!! YEAH!!! I think it embarrassed Roger, but he must have got over it. He did say something about, "You weren't acting much like a grandmother up there!" I don't think he meant it as a compliment... LOL!
There was a side show or two, I missed most of it, but got plenty of details. Security had to be called a couple of times on a group of Truckers that got out of hand...more than once. There wasn't any violence, just a few people having "too much fun" and getting a little bit loud. Frank had to literally step over one of the trucker women that had a few too many.
And speaking of Frank...Him and Roger got along spendidly...they found something they have in common...and they had a race to see who could "taste test" the most desserts! Next time I will pack some Alka Seltzer!
In Nassau, completely by mistake, we found a Quilt Show by the local Guild. It was wonderful! One of the wallhangings had 18,250 pieces! Every piece was about a half inch!!!!! It was a beautiful mosaic type. I will post the pics soon. We (Betty, Frank, Virgie and I) traded info with them and hope to keep in touch.
I could go on and on, but I need to head for the bed. I will say that everyone wants me to book another cruise, so hopefully I will talk to Allison soon and try to set things up for the first week in March of 2014. I am sure, from all that I have heard already, we will have a much bigger group next time!
It is great to be back though. I missed the shop so much that I didn't even want to leave at 8:30 tonight. BTW, Chris did a great job while we were gone! The shop looked great and I have heard nothing but rave reviews so far! Thanks so much Chris!
I would like everyone that went on the cruise to leave their own stories by clicking on comments below.
Hope to see you all soon!
