At our last UFO night, March 8th, Barb presented us with an incentive program to get our UFO's finished. She set us up with a point system to earn charms for a bracelet. We get points for things such as, attending a UFO meeting, finishing a UFO, bringing one or more for show and tell, bring a friend to a UFO night, and so on.
I also presented a challenge of sorts by producing 3 bags of strip scraps, each were color coordinated, but since I pulled them out of the trash cans at the shop, this challenge is called, "I was Trashed!" I asked for volunteers to take some of the strips home, make them into 12 1/2" blocks, then bring them back where we will turn them into beautiful charity quilts, probably during the August UFO Night. You should see some of them that have already been brought back! Gorgeous!
I must say that I was delighted to find that all of the scraps had been taken home that night. We have a great group at the shop! I have had alot of strip pieces left over from cutting jelly rolls lately, and Virgie has been cutting layer cakes and charm packs so there have been scraps from that too. We will be continuing to cut more sets, have more scraps, make more blocks, etc.! So if you missed out on the first set of scraps, not to worry! I have more all the time so just stop by and get some! You don't have to come to UFO to join in on this effort, but why wouldn't you come? It is so much FUN!!!
Now back to the progress of completed UFO's. On this first night of the new incentive program, Barb showed us "How to recover from pneumonia" by breaking out about 6 UFO's she had finished during her sick time! So I decided to get myself in gear and not be showed up! Since I am still on "short time" from the shop because of my surgery, I will show Barb that I know how to "recover" too! So this week I have...well...I have been working on some...okay...I still have some catching up to do!!!!LOL!!!!
Along with Barb's show and tell, Frank brought in 2 beauties, one was batik of course! And there were several more! Vicky, Diddie, Faye...I hope I haven't forgotten anyone...but I have posted the pics of all of them here on the Blog in the photo albums. And then Beverly and Teresa showed us that finishing a project doesn't mean it has to be a quilt...or even quilted... They showed off their scarves they have knitted!
FUN! FUN! AND MORE FUN!
Hope to see all of you soon! Got to get busy now so Barb doesn't make me look too bad! LOL!
